I got the job!!!!... I got the job!!!!

I am the assistant manager for the Cherry Hill Photo Santa Set at the mall!!! SOOOOOO excited!!!!!

And I also got a request on facebook to give my feedback on which rules I think should be put in place on the CP apartments between roommates, so here goes nothing...

Technically, all of your roommates are going to be legal adults. With that being said... not all of them will act like it and in order to keep yourself from going insane, you might want to sit down with your roommates day 1 and come up with some friendly guidelines...

Here are some ideas:

1. My roommates and I did a chores chart. we took a piece of paper and drew a line down the middle. on one side, went everyone's name on the other side went the chores that needed to be done : garbage, dishes, get the mail, etc etc etc.

We found cute little square magnets in the target dollar section and placed that list on the fridge. When the magnet was on your name, you did that chore. and then you would place the magnet on the next name. It worked really well for us.

2. Figure out a cooking schedule. My roommates and I bought all of our own food and then we had masking tape and a permanent marker so we could write our name on our food. No one ever had the same schedules, so we all cooked for ourselves. Something you may consider buying though and splitting the cost of is stuff like pots and pans. The ones we got in chatham were in kind of poor condition and for 8 people, we didn't get that many.

3. You may want to figure out in your apartment who has a car and who doesn't. I allllwayyysss drove everywhere and noone ever really offered to help chip in for gas and the gas stations by the apartments are a lot higher then anywhere else. It really adds up in gas when you think about it, so come up with some reinbursement system for gas if that is something you will particpate in.

4. talk with your roommates and decide on the rules of inviting others over to your apartment. Like how late is too late, on noise levels, etc. Also... get it across to your roommates that you WILL be termed if there is illegal stuff going on in your apartment and you get caught. No one wants to get termed for something that isn't their fault.

5. Have rules about sleepovers and levels of PDA. seriously. my roommate and I didn't have any such rules and I had one too many surprises... also keep in mind that you can lock the bedroom door from the inside, so if you get home, and all you want to do is go to bed... your roommate might have the door locked, so talk about how you will handle that.

6. Talk to your immediate roommate about what kind of a sleeper you are. How do you handle lights turned on, hair dryers blowing, etc in the morning?!? If you can sleep through it, GREAT! If not... let them know. After a week or so of being woken up every morning, you'll get cranky. trust me. Just be honest from the begining and you'll be much better off!

I think that's about all i've got now. Remember... your roommates pay to live there too, so compromise is key. You will be living with people from all over the country and in some cases, all over the world. People have different ways of doing things than you do and it's part of the learning process of the college program. Learning to live with different people. Have fun though, be creative, and follow the housing rules. Property Management doesn't take them lightly.Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-27698229289298628622009-10-24T12:39:00.000-07:002009-10-24T12:44:51.034-07:00not much new with the CPwell i can't believe it's happened... but i'm starting to run out of new information to share with you guys.

I guess now it's going to be the time where if I see stuff online or something, i'll post it here for y'all to read :)

I guess the only thing CP related is that a few days ago I made my CP presentation at school to get full credit for my internship class. My professor loved it and i got all the kids asking how they could apply. What was supposed to be about a 15 minute presentation turned out to be between an hour - an hour and a half... my part was over in 15 minutes but they just kept asking all these questions. My professor even asked me if he could keep my report I made about it as a great example to show future students. No professor has ever asked me that before!! It made me feel really good.

I got my grade in the mail a couple days later (A) and my professors comments were "excellent! I can't wait for your second internship!"

Him and I both.

So I guess that's about it for this post. I've been following other Fall 10's blogs and even a couple of people have started bloging.

OHHHH and my parents just gave me a $50 visa giftcard for halloween (apparently I get halloween gifts now, haha)... they asked me what I was going to spend it on and I said I'm saving it until I find out if i'm accepted, and if I am, I'm spending it on FLORIDA STUFF!!! haha :-)

Have a MAGICAAAAALLLL day <3Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-3803171953586363942009-10-18T11:37:00.000-07:002009-10-18T11:42:25.200-07:00ROLES!!!Ok, so the Disney College Program has a variety of roles to select from when applying. Check this out:

1. Discounts-

You get various discounts at Full Service Restaurants as well as some discounts at quick service locations. It really varies though so if you ever have questions about the food discounts, just ask before you purchase anything.

You also get up to 40% off of Disney Resorts for family and friends. This is if you are NOT going to be staying with them.

Now, if you ARE going to be staying with them and if your name is on the reservation, you can get 50% off. I've heard that some people have even gotten 60% off, but I've personally never seen a reservation with that... and I've worked at the resorts.

You also get a discount on merchandise... I believe it's 20%. However, when I arrived at the end of January, they still had their holiday discounts going on for cast members which included 50% off for merchandise. That was AMAZING. Especially when you were playing in the parks and you got cold (which it DOES happen at that time of the year) you can go to the merchandise locations and get a hoodie for like 15-20 bucks instead of paying 30-40!! Very nice!!

2. Cast Connection-

This is a building merchandise location backstage Magic Kingdom. Here they have a BUNCH of merchandise you can buy such as outdated clothing, stuff they've used at the resorts, toys, frames, books, etc. It's discounted and they often have a big selection of items to pick from. Hours can be found on the Hub.

3. Property Control-

This is located right next door to Cast Connection. This is where they sell stuff that they can't sell in the parks anymore due to it being damaged or something along those lines. Often times, you can find INCREDIBLE deals there and you often can't tell why it was damaged.

For instance, I've purchased MANY clothing items in this store that I cant tell what was wrong with them... I purchased a Disney Parks and Resorts cookbook that the ONLY thing wrong with it was that the paper cover (on a hard cover book) was ripped about an inch... I think the book was about 40 bucks, and i got it for like 5.

The selection in this store really varies as they get in new items every day!

4. Company D-

There are a few different locations around Disney Property. My favorite is at Disney University. They have a lot of Cast Member Only clothing (including CP clothing)... a lot of CM Only pins, and other merchandise. They also have a WIDE selection of laynards to select from for your IDs and such. I spend a LOT of money at Company D.Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-15347172601367538132009-10-05T22:09:00.000-07:002009-10-05T22:44:26.549-07:00Creating your own Magical Moments

No, I'm not talking about at work... although Disney does give you a lot of room to be creative with these... I'm talking about playing in the parks. Meeting characters has GOT to be one of my favorite things to do. Especially if I knew people who were friends with them. Even if I didn't, you just go up to them and strike up a conversation... here's a bunch of my favorites.

The day before I moved into the CP, my friends Corinne, Danny and Meghan went to Animal Kingdom... there is where I met Goofy for the first time on my CP. Goofy grabbed me, hugged me, and proceeded to dance with me for a solid 2 minutes at least. It was amaaaaazing and something I will never ever forget...

I became fairly good friends With Goofy throughout my program and decided to meet him and my friend pluto in dinoland. That also, was an experience I will never forget and goofy and pluto probably spent half of their set with us... we loved it.

Meeting Stitch was fun. Stitch had just gone for a quick surfing lesson and when he came back, my roommate Alyssa and I were the first ones to meet him. The photopass photographer was amazing and helped us really interact with lilo and stitch. We had a surfing lesson before taking the picture and stitch decided to make out with Alyssa. It was Epic.

It was ALWAYS a pleasure meeting Sorcerer Mickey. I didn't get a chance to do a lot of the ones that I really wanted to, simply due to the fact that I was working or the fact that they fill up fast... but the ones I did get to do, were AMAZING... such as:

**Cast Quest**

Cast Quest involves getting into teams of 4 and it's a tournament of sorts held at Disney Quest and downtown disney. They shut down Disney Quest just for this (it's basically done after hours) and most of the attractions at Disney Quest are open for use. Some of the attractions the teams competed in were Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Skee Ball, Air Hockey, Trivia and Race Car driving. It was SOOOO much fun.
My team won 3rd place in trivia and everyone got medals for participating as well as medals/certificates if you placed in any of the events. Here's some pictures:

**Formals**

The formal was awesome. For the Spring and Spring Advantage CPs it was held at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and the theme was "going hollywood". The characters show up in their formal attire for pictures, the food is decent and it's a chance to dress up (or not) and dance the night away with your friends. The best part about formal is... IT'S FREE!! and most managers are pretty cool about giving you the night off if you tell them what it's for. Here's some pictures:

Now the rest I don't really have pictures of, but I'll still mention them...

1. Pool Parties- I never went to one of them, but from what people told me, they had DJ's, food, characters, and of course... swimming. They sounded fun, but I was ALWAYS working during them... or I didn't know about them until it was too late. They had a few while I was there.

2. Grocery Bingo- This seemed to be really popular. Basically, you play bingo to win bags of groceries!! There was only ONE of them that I wasn't working during, but... it was my birthday and I was busy at Universal and at my party... so I didn't go. I heard they were really fun and I always wanted to go to one of them.

3. Cool Beans Cafe- I never went to this either, but they have kareoke and stuff here... it never really interested me that much... but some people I know went and said it was alright.

4. Night of Stars- I actually went to this, haha! I got an Early Release from work so I could go to it, haha... It's a CP talent show and it was held in Downtown Disney. I went with my friend Tim and it was PACKED. The talent was really good, too. I recommend to check this out.

5. Mickey's Retreat- This is right next to Chatham and it's a cast member only area where you can rent water paddle boats, i think they have tennis or basketball and soccer or something... it's kind of a rec area. I never went here except for graduation.

6. Backstage tours- These are VERY VERY VERY popular and fill up very quickly. While I was there I never got to go to one, but i REALLY REALLY wanted to. They offered tours of backstage Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest and I think a couple more. The Haunted Mansion was held most frequently.

** note: My SSR and OKW managers did arrange for our CPs to get a backstage tour of the Dinosaur attraction at Animal Kingdom. It was very interesting and we got to learn a ton about the attraction. It was held before the park opened and we got to see how everything worked, we got to walk through the attraction with the lights on, pet the dinosaurs and then ride it with the lights off. I learned so much with that and therefore can HIGHLY recommend you do some sort of backstage tour if you can. If nothing else, just to see how a day to day life of an attractions cast member can be is interesting :-)... but i KNOW you will get more out of it!!

Also, every now and then, they would have cast only nights at the parks or cast previews to different things. During my program I had the chance to view the cast preview of the "move it, shake it, celebrate it" parade, but I was working that night.

I did have the chance to go to a Toy Story Mania Cast night when they were doing some testing on how to work the line. That was SOOOO awesome and we got to ride it twice.... and after you ride it twice... if you ride it hard core competitively, you will feel like you just had an awesome workout. No joke.

Overall, there are a lot of opportunities for cast or CP only events to participate in. DO THEM. they are fun!!Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-55787785879523668452009-10-05T21:13:00.000-07:002009-10-05T21:18:39.727-07:00Another note about transportationI just wanted to add a side note in here about transportation... or at least emphasize something I might have already said:

American Coach does not go to places like Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, etc. The only time it goes to places like that would be if there was a special CP thing set up and even then, they might charter a separate bus for that... i'm not really sure how that all works.

If you're hoping to get to places like that you have a couple options:

1. Bring down your car. It's super easy to get to both places from the CP apartments.
2. Get a taxi.
3. Make friends with someone with a car... but please... either pay for parking or give them gas money. Take it from someone who had a car down there: gas is expensive when you make minimum wage... and those people with cars might not mind doing it out of the goodness of their hearts at first, but once they realize that EVERYONE starts wanting rides from them, they will appreciate the couple bucks for gas, or things like paying for parking. Just my thoughts on that matter :-)Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-25820133497414017302009-10-01T16:05:00.000-07:002009-10-02T15:01:26.803-07:00Videos...Uploading the CP memories video took WAYYYYY to long... so i'm trying something else.

I'm just going to provide you the links to videos. However, while talking to a couple of my Disney friends, we agreed that I needed to go into a little more depth. The number one thing we felt it was necessary to mention was:

Do not expect to become best friends with your roommates...

Is it possible that you will become best friends with your roommates? Of course! But don't expect it. I did... and a couple other friends of mine did... and we both ended up moving apartments.

At the beginning, everyone is super nice and you think you really are living in fantasy land... about a month or two later you start to see people's true side. And that is what happened to me, sort of. I had 7 roommates and 6 of them decided to stab me in the back and what they did made my entire CP life hell... so instead of staying in that apartment with the one roommate I could actually stand, I moved.

Luckily, I had talked to a couple friends of mine and it turned out that they had an empty bed in their apartment so all I had to do was get it approved through housing, pay 50 bucks and sign a waiver saying I wouldn't drink alcohol in the apartment since I would be moving into a non-wellness.

I lovvvveddd that apartment. One of the girls and I had a falling out, but I still had 6 other girls who I considered sisters to me and I was much MUCH happier living there.

Moral of the story: If your roommates suck, move. Don't be worried about causing drama, hurting your roommates feelings , etc... do what is going to make YOU happy. It's worth it in the end.

Also...

You will be living with people from all over the country and possibly people from other countries... if I can offer you one piece of advice about that:

Be prepared to compromise!!

People might surprise you. Some people have never had to take out the trash or do the dishes their entire lives. Some people's "really clean" is your "really messy"... some people just DON'T care about partying at 2 am when you have to be to work 4 hours later... the more you prepare yourself for compromise and team work, the better off y'all are going to be !!!

I also recommend to make some sort of chores chart and set some apartment "rules" right off the bat. It will just help organize everyone right away and will probably save some arguments down the road.Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-76309771599205819212009-09-30T18:56:00.001-07:002009-09-30T19:32:02.193-07:00Downtown Disney Must Do'sDowntown Disney (DTD) offers a range of shops, restaurants and entertainment to participate in. It is free to get into DTD but you pay for everything inside of it such as shopping, eating, Cirque, Disney Quest, etc. Here is my list of must do's!!
Shopping
1. World of Disney: It is an incredibly HUGE store and you can probably find any Disney item you want in this store. I've gotten lost in it multiple times. (well, ok not lost but I couldn't find my way back to the way I entered).

2. Design A T-shirt- maybe not a must do, but I made a college program shirt and I like it and thought it was fun. It cost about 25 bucks, but it's not like I did it every day...

Places to Eat

1. Ghirardelli- I am in love with their ice cream. My friends and I went there A LOT!! (and you get a cast member discount!!)

2. Rainforest Cafe- There is also a location at Disney's Animal Kingdom, but I am partial to this location since I had my Pre-Check In dinner there and it's the place where I met a BUNCH of my friends for the first time!

3. Disney Quest- You will like this if you like video games. It is known as a "5 story indoor-interactive theme park". Here is where you can go on a virtual Jungle Cruise, Virtual Pirates ride, Build and ride your own roller coaster, etc. I liked it.

2. Cirque Du Soleil: La Nouba- Wait until you get 50% off tickets. We paid $42.00 for 4th row tickets. We probably could have gotten better yet, but we had 13 people together and we all wanted to sit together. There really isn't a bad seat in the house from the looks of it and the show is SPECTACULAR! Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-76297244566632866642009-09-28T21:35:00.001-07:002009-09-30T17:31:58.192-07:00Must Do's at Hollywood Studios

Disney's Hollywood Studios is my favorite park, hands down. How many Mickey's are there?
- Once people find out you are a cast member they come up with what they think are really clever questions, such as "how many mickey's are there"... the answer is: one. One mickey, one minnie, one pluto, one goofy... you get it. Without fail, they tell you that they are an adult and they "get how it works" and that you can tell them the "truth"... well it goes like this: "Sir, I'm sorry, the answer is still one and will forever be, one. I'm not sure why you think there are multiple mickey's, but if you have any other questions guest services would be happy to assist you!"... or something like that.

2. What is that cable for that is connected to Cinderella's Castle?
- I've given multiple answers to that question but my two favorite are:
a. That is Prince Charming's ESPN cable... he likes to watch the games, too!!
b. It's cinderella's clothing line to hang the clothes to dry.

ok, now onto the ones CP's ask:

1. Wait, disney contacts my school?
- Yes and No. I was worried about this since my school won't tell anyone anything regarding my status at that school... not even to my parents. So, i emailed my recruiter expressing my concerns. They replied back stating they only contacted the schools that they had contact information for and they didn't have any for my school so i didn't have to worry... take that for what you will :)

2. Are there any trick interview questions you get while interviewing for the CP?
- This is a business interview. They don't try and trick you. Think about the roles you selected and possible challanging guest situations. Now think about any sort of questions that you could be asked about those scenerios/roles... and prepare those answers and you'll be fine!!!

3. Any thing you reccomend to cure homesickness?
- Calling home is always good... but if you aren't satisfied with that, then you can download skype or another messaging service and purchase a webcam, so you can see your friends and family while talking to them!! It helps everyone involved :-)

4. I heard that arrival dates are specific to your role you recieve, is this true?
-No. All roles arrive at various times throughout the month that your program starts.

5. Is the bus transportation free?
- Yes. It will take you to work, walmart, publix, and i believe cross roads... There could be more, but i never took the bus beyond my 1st 2 weeks and it was only to work that i took it :)

6. How much do the apartments cost?
- it varies.
i'll start with the LEAST expensive and go to the MOST expensive:
Vista 3/4 bedroom
Vista 1/2 bedroom
Chatham 3/4 bedroom
Chatham 1/2 bedroom
Patterson 3/4 bedroom
Patterson 1/2 bedroom
The commons.

I was in a chatham 4 bedroom and I think I paid 82/week. I heard patterson was only a dollar more and they were practically brand new... go figure:-)

7. What does PI stand for?
- Professional Internship

8. Why do you have to pay to do the CP?
- There is a 100.50 fee that goes toward housing events that are free to participate in such as: Grocery Bingo, pool parties, Graduation, etc.

9. How much do paychecks average per week after taxes and rent?
That varies by role and hours worked. For hospitality, i averaged 35-40 hours a week and my checks were an average of 140 after taxes and rent per week. So... about... 560/month. And then you have to figure in money for gas if you have a car, groceries, and any sort of entertainment that you want to take in.

10. I know a person who found out their work location early. How is that possible? I want to know!
- I knew a couple people who had friends that were CPs already and had them search for their name on the HUB before their arrival date. Some people were already in the system and it showed their work location... some people weren't in the system yet and had no luck. I can understand wanting to know your location early... but that's part of the fun and excitement of the whole first week... hold off if you can :-)Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-64114503560182272492009-08-26T15:03:00.000-07:002009-08-26T15:11:54.567-07:00The CP is so much more than an internship...On the CP I...

~ viewed a live american idol audition...of sorts...
~ was dangerous with Drew Carey
~ did spectacular stunts with Indiana jones
~ went on a tour of the stars
~ dined with playhouse disney characters
~ rode piggy back on an ant the size of my car
~ played carnival games with toy story characters
~ took a journey into narnia
~ envisioned one mans dream
~ went on a voyage with the little mermaid
~ flew through a giant pink donut
~ fell 13 stories in an elevator that got struck by lightning
~ took the shuttle on a joy ride to mars... and never actually took one back to earth...
~ was a crash test dummy
~ Went on a quest in the big blue world
~ had a chat with a 500 year old turtle
~ went hang gliding over California
~ lived with the land
~ witnessed the entire circle of life
~ Went to Italy for dinner, France for dessert while having a drink from Mexico
~ experienced life through a bugs point of view
~ saved a baby elephant from wild poachers
~Lead my team on a crazy expedition through mount everest
~ went white water rafting
~ helped find nemo
~ time traveled back 65 million years to save a dinosaur
~ flew on a magic carpet
~ saw the backside of water
~ Plunged down a 5 story waterfall
~ survivied the wildest ride in the wilderness
~ Jammed with some country bears
~ Spent 8 minutes in the dark with 999 happy haunts
~ took a flight with peter pan
~ got mad at a tea party
~ hung out at mickey's house
~ flew through space
~ laughed with monsters

... it was so much more than an internship...Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-43569231837096187982009-08-23T17:15:00.000-07:002009-08-23T17:31:55.579-07:00My first request!!This is exciting... my first request of information to be shared!!!

A reader of the disboards wants to know more information about general levels of work experience with hospitality cast members, the amount of hours worked and whether or not cp's worked over night shifts...

As far as general levels of work experience goes: Personally, I had worked with Hyatt for 2 years before applying for Disney. The position I had gave me experience mostly with front desk, but I also had a lot of experience working in the bar and backery... in the kitchen... setting up for meetings and minimal housekeeping. I think my interviewer was impressed by that...

MOST of the CPs at SSR and OKW were hospitality majors with experience in the field... but not all of them. 2 of my good friends were Art majors and i know one of them had no experience in the field at all... i'm not 100 % certain about the other...

Generally speaking, most CPs were hospitality majors though but there are always a few of them that just do a great job on their interview and really make it apparent that this is what they want to try.

Honestly, in the training you get, you don't need to have experience because at least in my experience, Disney's way is SOOOOOOO different than Hyatt's way.

For hours worked...

I was ALWAYS scheduled for 5 days and ALWAYS for 8 1/2 hour shifts. The only time I would get any less than that is if I had requested days off for something... and most of the time if I wanted 3 or 4 days off in a row, it would be approved... but... it would mean that i was scheduled for 7 or 8 in a row before AND after my days off. :)

Getting overtime in SSR and OKW was almost impossible and they really frowned upon it. However I know of other people in other resorts who claimed they could pick up shifts left and right... as well as people in the parks who were CONSTANTLY scheduled overtime, so go figure!

Another thing to consider is working front desk, there are only so many stations. Sundays were our busiest day of the week and they ALWAYS over scheduled to allow room for call ins and such... and most of the time I'd be in the back offices making packets all of my shift or just doing odd and end things.

The minimal amount of hours the can schedule you is 32.

ummm overnights!!!

I never had any. I was asked ONCE to work a double which would have put me into 7am b/c one of the over night full timers had called in. It wasn't required and with all honesty, i would have had NO idea what i was doing since they do different stuff... so they called someone else in.

The latest I ever worked was until 2:30 in the morning. I LOVED those shifts though because I never got tired until around 3 or 4 anyway and it wasn't so chaotic the later the nights got. Sometimes it was just nice to be able to actually talk with my cast member friends and get to know them a bit better :)

I do know a couple of CPs who did over nights... but i think they asked for it. The majority of CP front desk CPs only ever worked until 2:30 at the latest!!Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-19512455050246611212009-08-23T10:25:00.000-07:002009-08-23T10:37:54.815-07:00Disney LookDisney is a company that prides itself on putting on a show for every guest. Thus, each cast member plays a role onstage. Part of maintaining that role is making sure you fit the "look". Each "role" has a specific "costume". There are no UNIFORMS at Disney.

For the purpose of the college program, the first day that you are required to be in look is for "Traditions".

For women:

~ hair must be a natural color and if you have highlights they must blen in very well and look natural.
~ Business wear is appropriate. Nice shirt, jacket, skirt that isn't higher than the knee, dress pants, etc.
~ Shoes must be closed toe/closed heel
~minimal jewlery
~ Pantyhose

For Men:

~Clean Shaven
~Business Attire with tie.

You are looked over before you are given your company ID/nametag.

I have seen girls turned away for their hair not looking "natural" enough and I have seen guys who were made to go to the vending machine and purchase a cheap razor and shave before being admitted.

For both genders, tattoos must be covered.

For the most part, everyone "passed" with no problems:)

Here's a couple pictures taken on the way to Traditions so you can know what to expect... we all passed :) Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-86731625961998605872009-08-23T10:18:00.000-07:002009-08-23T10:23:14.489-07:00Disney DiscountsAs a cast member you are entitled to some pretty nice discounts. If you have any questions if the place you are at gives such discounts, all you have to do is ask!!Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-9146520850982426082009-08-22T10:50:00.000-07:002009-08-22T10:56:47.714-07:00Inspections/Housing RulesInspections...kind of suck. I mean, when it comes down to it, they really aren't that big of a deal but we pay rent and are all over the age of 18...just like a regular apartment and they never have inspections.

All in all, we had 4 total inspections over the 7 months that I was there. There are always the chances for surprise inspections, but my apartment never had one. We always knew when ours would be by looking at the board they had at security.

For inspections, you have to have everything clean...beds made, surfaces clean, floors (tile wood and carpet), oven, stove, microwave, showers, toilets, garbages empty, blah blah blah. If one thing isn't clean, you will be failed on that part but pass overall. If more than a few things aren't perfect, you fail over all and each person in the apartment has to pay $25.00 so they can get a cleaning crew in to clean your apartment.

So that is inspections.

As far as housing rules go...

~ all residents must present apartment IDs every time you enter the complex.
~ if it is after 9 pm, all visitors (even CPs from other complex's) must be signed in and will not be admitted in if they aren't.
~ Everyone that does not live in that complex must be out by 1am
~if you have friends over that live in the same complex as you, there is not a "curfew" and there is no official rule about the opposite gender spending the night as long as they live in the same complex.

If you have issues with your roomates having "sleepovers" that is something you will want to talk about right away because as long as they live in the same complex, they aren't breaking any rules and you can't really do anything about it.Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5641188131971725292.post-30114133244149544762009-08-21T23:50:00.000-07:002009-08-22T00:10:40.651-07:00Hours/Points/Repimands/Great Service FanaticsHours:

As a CP, you are guaranteed 32 hours a week. Of course, this all varies by your work locations and some roles and locations will always have a lot more hours to hand out then others.

Working at SSR and OKW... i was ALWAYS given 5 days a week at 8 1/2 hours each day... so that was what? 42.5 hours a week. Some of my roomates got a lot more than that working attractions and Merch in the parks.... and if you work crazy buzy times like over spring break, I know someone who worked 70 hour work weeks doing attractions. It can get kind of crazy.

The only time you may have less than 32 hours is if you request the time off and it gets approved... but even then, be prepared to work more days in a row than your used to before your "vacation" and even after you get back to make up for those days missed!! ...

Points/Repimands:

If you call into work or are late... do something you shouldn't while working... something like those scenerios chances are you may rack up some points.

examples:
-You call into work for being "sick" or "personal"... you get 1 point each day.
-You are late to work by 1 second-2 hours... you get 1/2 a point.
- you are late to work by 2 + hours... you get a whole point
- you do something bad on the job... missing money, poor judgement, etc etc etc ... you could get anysort of points/rep's... it really varies by severity and it's up to the discretion of the leader

repimands are no good. As a CP, unless you call in allllllllll the time or just do really bad or really stupid stuff, it's hard to get terminated due to having repimands. I'll try to explain...

3 total points in 30 days = 1 repimand
6 total points in 60 days = 1 repimand
9 total points in 90 days = 1 repimand...

3 1/2 total points in 30 days = 1 repimand + 1 point...

say you call in 4 days in a month ( 4 points)... and then the bus gets you late to work even by a minute 4 times in that same month (total of 2 more points)... you would equal out 2 repimands for that month... but this is hard to do, really...

in order to get termed AS A CP (i'm not honestly sure if it's the same for full time/ part time)... you need:

4 attendance repimands or I believe it's 3 performance reprimands (most commonly given in hospitality for being short a lot of money in your drawer, REALLY poor judgement while working.... something like that)..

Points and Repimands go on your record card and WILL effect the outcome of an extension or going seasonal. I can't remember how long they remain on your record card, but something tells me it's for a year... i could be wrong, so don't hold me to that:)

I'm not going to get into how many points I had and stuff, but i did get points. It's almost impossible to be there for 7 months and not call in. Stuff happens and comes up. Just don't make it a habbit to call in all the time... and whatever you do... DO NOT CALL IN AND USE YOUR COMPANY ID. CHANCES ARE... YOU WILL GET TERMED FOR IT!!! I've also heard stories of being termed for going to the beach and someone running into their manager there... not good !! Just be smart and you'll be great!

Great Service Fanatic cards:

Not a lot of guests know about these... these can be filled out by both guests AND cast members... for rewarding cast members for doing great things!!! They are so much fun to get because it means someone noticed you going above and beyond the call of duty and... personally, just made me motivated to go out there and do an even better job!!...

I was blessed enough to recieve three during my program all from other cast members. They DO go on your record card, and while they don't erase points or repimands, they do show the good that you do when it comes time to wanting to extend/go seasonal/transfer to another location after your CP.Crissahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00178820232846523073noreply@blogger.com
